It Started in His Presence

 I don’t just write - I receive.

Most of my inspirations come in moments when I draw close to God. In times of consecration, when everything else is quiet, that’s when the words come. Not forced, not planned - just given.

As Easter approached, I felt a nudge within me.

“Prepare something.”

It wasn’t just about writing. It felt like an assignment. So I obeyed. I took time, I stayed in His presence, and I put together a special piece - something intentional for the season.

The first time I tried to present it at our annual youth program at the IYC campground, I missed the opportunity. The auditions had already ended.

It was disappointing… but I let it go.

This piece didn’t start there.

It was first published on my blog on April 23rd, 2019 - a moment where I simply followed the inspiration I received.

Over time, I shared it twice on YouTube. The first version came with a challenge - the background music I used (“In Christ Alone”) was copyright protected.

So I had to try again.

The second version was accepted. That was about two years ago.

Looking back now, I see a journey - not just of writing, but of growth, patience, and refinement.

Then this year came.

Another opportunity. Another chance.

And this time, I was privileged to present it.

On April 5th, 2026, during the Apostolic Faith Church IYC Program - Victory Night - I performed this piece live on stage.

Standing there, it was no longer just poetry. It was more.

It was heart-touching.

It was impactful.

It was a moment that reminded me that timing matters - and when something is truly inspired, it will find its moment.

This is not just a story about a performance.

It’s a reminder that what is received in God’s presence may take time to manifest, but when it does, it carries meaning, depth, and fulfillment.

From inspiration… to delay… to refinement… to expression.

And in that moment, it all came together.

Some inspirations don’t come to be rushed - they come to be revealed in God’s time.
